2018 Dry Land Shiraz
Our dry grown vines are expertly managed to ensure low cropping at 1.5T/acre, this wine has been crafted using Shiraz from two of our estate vineyard sites in Leasingham.
The fruit is hand picked at optimal ripeness with prior to open fermentation. Hand plunging and gentle pressing has retained the fine fruit characters prior to 24 months maturation in American and French oak hogsheads.
After maturation, the batches were expertly blended to create this perfectly balanced wine.
The profile shows stewed plums, ripe berries, chocolate, mocha, hint of pepper and spice with well integrated oak and lingering finish.

"Deep black at the core with brick tinges throughout, this wine shows an inviting combination of fresh and tertiary aromas. The richly fruited palate is awash with sweet vanilla and cinnamon notes. Behind the oak-derived notes are flavors of black plum, elderberry and sloe. The rounded, succulent tannins defer to the nicely supporting acidity for structure while the solid finish layers in crushed graphite notes. Having nicely aged in bottle, this is drinking very well now–2024."

TROPHY for CHAMPION SHIRAZ/SYRAH & GOLD MEDAL ~ 2018 New Zealand International Wine Competition
“A formidable Shiraz exhibiting blackberry jam, cherry pie and chocolate coated hazelnut flavours with a lavishly textured palate that’s substantial and concentrated. Outstanding.”
4.5 STARS & 2018 Wine of the Year contender, Winestate Magazine
"A big generous wine. Some meaty characters and mineral elements to the dark fruit nose and rich, well-structured varietal palate with a slightly drying oak."

"Vibrant bright purple/red, big aromas of ripe red berries, some mocha, pepper, and herbs. Big rich, powerful palate, great depth, and structure with a very elegant finish. SUPERB!!"
92 PTS, Halliday Wine Companion 2020, www.winecompanion.com.au
”The dry-grown nature of the vineyard charges through the estate's wines: dense extract, firm coffee grind tannins and immense heft. This is no exception, with Clare's choc-mint DNA apparent amidst booze-soused cherry, anise and vanilla-bourbon American oak. Palate-staining.”
